About RavensdaleThe Northwest Polymer Clay Guild (NWPCG) hosts an international conference called Ravensdale. The most recent conference was in August, 2006. The next Ravensdale conference will be in 2009. Ravensdale 2006 marked the 10th anniversary for the Ravensdale conferences and is the fifth conference in this series. The first Ravensdale conference was held in Sept. of 1996 in Ravensdale, WA and was called Convergence at Ravensdale. The Ravensdale conference has evolved to include the art of polymer with mixed media over the years and draws attendees from all over the world including Taiwan, France, the U.K., Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Egypt, South Africa, and Germany.Ravensdale 2006 offered over 65 classes and over 20 demos in a variety of subjects including metal jewelry fabrication, surface techniques in polymer clay, armatures and sculpting, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's), hollow forms, and painting with polymer clay. In conjunction with the conference there was a non-juried exhibit called The RAVE. This exhibit was displayed during the Ravensdale conference in the gallery on campus. NWPCG continues to be committed to offering a venue for showing polymer art without the standard of competition being involved. Another wonderful feature at this conference was the RavenStore. This store not only offered polymer tools and supplies, but allowed all conference goers the opportunity to sell their polymer work. |
