Meredith lives a little off center in Shoreline, WA. She is a student and teacher of color, creativity and design using many media. Having been both a Camp Fire girl and a Girl Scout, and later a fine artist and commercial graphic designer speaks to her personality: always looking at all sides and wanting to try everything. Her work is included in a number of books and she enjoys teaching and entertaining everywhere



Coptic Bound Books with Polymer Clay

Coptic binding is a quick way to create sewn bound books and a natural for polymer clay covers. This ancient binding technique is easy to master and has many variations. Create your own decoratively stitched book with collaged transfer covers while learning the considerations for successful results.

Supply List: Curved needle (upholstery type), brush for TLS, basic kit, clay, scissors, (If desired) specialty paper for book, folded in half to final size. Paper must be folded prior to class.
Materials Fee: $4.00, instructor to provide the following: Copier Images, Magazines, Paper for book, TLS, Waxed linen thread in various colors

Explore freehand, watercolor, embossed and a variety of other transfer techniques on polymer clay, paper and fabric. This is an encyclopedic class of transfer techniques! Discussion will include troubleshooting transfer issues as well as different approaches and methods.

PMC is perfect for newer techniques to colorize metal without using overly dangerous chemicals or materials. Create while learning environmentally safe ways to colorize metal and combine PMC with other materials including polymer clay, enamels, epoxies and even colored pencils!

Supply List: Students should bring PMC pieces that are ready to apply color to if they want to just focus in on applying color to metal. Otherwise they should have a quick PMC piece already in mind to make that can be quickly created for this class.
Materials Fee: $10.00, instructor to provide the following: Metal colorant, enamel powders, epoxies & pigments, paintbrushes & applicators
