Grant Diffendaffer

Grant Diffendaffer has been working with polymer clay since 1992 and teaching since 2000. After years of making intricate geometric canes, he is now focused on an exploration of texture, both visual and tactile, which he uses in jewelry, vessels and sculptural forms. Grant is based at his studio in Canyon California, and teaches and exhibits across the country He has just completed his first instructional video on polymer clay techniques. He is currently teaching at The Crucible in Oakland, CA, and working on his first book.

Learn to make fabulous organic textures that wrap seamlessly around beads and leave little evidence of the method of their creation. You will marvel at what you can create with this technique. Students will leave this class with finished beads, beads in progress, and many new ideas.

Supply List: Basic kit, 1# Premo! clay, 1# scrap clay, Speedball linoleum carving tool, Ball Stylus, Smallest size set of clay pattern cutters, favorite rubber stamps/texture sheets, paints or surface treatments

This class will focus on creating incredible holographic patterns in polymer clay. The focus will be on the variety of methods of creating and using the texture stamping plates that are at the center of this process. Practice all of the technical issues involved in making incredible seamless veneers and beautiful beads with amazing shifting holographic depth.

Supply List: Basic kit, 1# Premo! Gold clay, 1# scrap clay, small glass vessel to cover, rubber stamps/texture sheets, wet/dry sandpaper in 800 - 1500 grit
