Bezel Mania Class Full
2 Day Studio
All Levels
S1 Monday-Tuesday, August 7 & 8, 9:00 AM

Learn to create simple and elegant silver bezels to frame your polymer clay jewelry components. Day one will cover beginning soldering and basic metalworking techniques. Discuss the equipment needed to set up a simple soldering station in your home studio and practice basic soldering skills with brass wire. On day two, learn how to make elegant silver bezels, and to use these bezels to fabricate gorgeous jewelry components. This workshop is for all levels and assumes no prior experience in metalworking.

Supply List: Basic kit, Task Light, Magnifying Glasses (ie high powered drugstore readers. If you have young eyes you may not need these but I think they'd be helpful for everyone), metalworking tools (optional - ie chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, wire clippers), a few cooordinating small (~3"x3") decorative polymer sheets rolled on #4 on atlas pasta machine (any surface treatment will do but it should be a flat rather than textured), samples of your current work (optional)

The Joys of Asymmetrical Design
3 Hour Workshop
All Levels
T7 Thursday, August 10, 9:00 AM

Step beyond the safety of symmetrical design into the exciting world of asymmetry. Discover how the smallest design choices can make or break the success of a piece. Using Gestalt theory on how we perceive and interpret visual information, explore concepts of balance and unity. Look at many examples of successful polymer clay design and discuss how these principles are at play, and do simple hands-on exercises to put this new knowledge to work.
