Nan Roche is the author of the first comprehensive book on polymer clay, The New Clay. She is currently working on her second book about polymer clay. She teaches, writes magazine articles, has appeared on television and video and has been an active member of the National Polymer Clay Guild since its inception.



Riveting: Connecting Polymer Plates with Rubber

Create a neckpiece reminiscent of Asian-like armor techniques but adapted to polymer clay. Methods covered include making textured plates of polymer, drilling and riveting the plates together, braiding techniques and working with Buna cording. Finishing techniques will be included.

Supply List: Basic kit, Premo clay in white, black, gold, cadmium red, raw sienna, transparent, Cornstarch & fluffy brush, deeply etched rubber stamps or other texture plates, TLS, gold foil, selection of embossing powders

Three of the techniques developed by Nan Roche to create Asian lacquer work in polymer clay are the central focus of this class. Discover faux enameling using embossing powders, Mokume Gane with rubber stamps, and captured foil using metal foils. Extruded clay braiding and loop in loop chain with polymer clay and finishing techniques will also be demonstrated
