"Celtic" Knot Cane
1 Day Workshop
All Levels
W101, Monday, August 7, 9:00 AM

Make a cane that mimics the look of scrimshaw work, by using black and ivory colored polymer clay. Follow a specific set of instructions that result in a graphic cane with the illusion of an over-under weave. This basic cane will be multiplied, mirrored, cut and manipulated to form a myriad of interconnecting patterned canes, ideal for making beads and jewelry.

Supply List: Basic kit, black clay, ivory clay

“Kaleidoscoping” Techniques
3 Hour Class
All Levels
T3, Tuesday, August 8, 9:00 AM

Students must bring in several of their own fresh canes, at least one inch in diameter and approximately three inches long. The canes may be as simple as a jelly roll, but for the most satisfying results, the patterns must be very consistent throughout the canes. Sarah will show you a variety of her “kaleidoscoping” techniques that will result in a whole array of unpredictable intricately patterned canes.

Supply List: Basic kit, several fresh canes (min 1" diameter, 3" long)
